The Seiko Presage HCC008J1 is a limited edition Classic Series watch celebrating the beauty of Tomioka silk — a premium Japanese silk produced in the region surrounding the Tomioka Silk Mill in Gunma prefecture, Japan. Limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide, the HCC008J1 features a dial inspired by the graceful drape and texture of finely woven Tomioka silk, finished with a pearl-like coating that shimmers in the light to capture the refined lustre and pristine whiteness of silk produced by a rare silkworm variety cultivated in Gunma prefecture. The pink-gold-coloured stainless steel case and dark brown leather strap — inspired by the elegant brick façade of the Tomioka Silk Mill itself — complete a design that connects Japanese sericulture heritage to Seiko's watchmaking craft. A portion of proceeds is donated to the Tomioka Silk Promotion Organisation, which works to preserve the silk culture of Tomioka and promote purely Japanese-made silk produced from Tomioka-grown cocoons. Underneath the artisan dial, the 6R51 calibre delivers 72 hours of power reserve and +25/−15 seconds per day accuracy on the same 38 mm Classic Series platform found in the HCC001J1 and HCC002J1.
