Introducing: TAG Heuer latest Aquaracer GMT

TAG Heuer has released a 2020 updated version of its GMT sports diver range, giving enthusiasts a chance to own a “Batman”-styled timepiece.

Short introduction what does GMT mean, it stands for Greenwich Mean Time, and is used in the watch world to indicate a watch that shows a second time-zone by combining a GMT hand and a rotating bezel. Generally in TAG Heuer’s world, these time-zone watches are branded as a “Twin Time“, but the “GMT” label has also been used over the years, as we’ll explain shortly.

The GMT has been a popular model in the Aquaracer 300m series over the recent years, with the current “Pepsi” model approaching three years old and therefore due for a fresh look to keep pace with other dual time-zone watches in the market.

The "Batman" comes in a 43mm stainless steel case with a brushed finish on top and high polish on the sides, housing a Calibre 7 automatic 4Hz movement which carries a 46-hour power reserve. The highlight of the watch however is no doubt the “Batman” two-toned bezel and aluminium insert with 24-hour markings — rotating bi-directionally as a GMT as opposed to the convetional diver’s uni-directional rotation — as well as the intricately designed blue sunray dial with horizontal patterning. A date window sits neatly under a cyclops at 3 o’clock, working alongside white trapezoid indices and white hour, minute, and second hands. Extending the blue hue is the watch’s fourth GMT hand, painted in the same shade with lume at the center. Of course, as a diver, the crown is of a screw-down variety, much like the engraved solid caseback.

With this new extension of color, it will sure to gain a different appeal to customers that like "Batman" style.
